Leopard Messiah - 'Emerald Fyre' LP

Leopard Messiah – ‘Emerald Fyre’

‘Emerald Fyre’ is the new record by Leopard Messiah. He resides in the inconsequential wasteland of Perth, Western Australia. The music could be described as stoner-pop/stoner-folk, the instrumentation is 12-string acoustic guitar and vocals, a couple of tracks feature mannequin leg percussion by the drummer from Whalehammer.

On this release Leopard Messiah comments upon the ecstacies and agonies of riding the emerald wave, feasting on the green, and all that’s in-between. Leopard Messiah is inspired by stoner rock, psych-folk, the british explosion, lo-fi pop etc…

Look out for more Leopard Messiah in the future!

You can download ‘Emerald Fyre’ from www.doddrell.com/mp3.

Frank & The Can I Speaklys - Three Song EP

So, Perth-based idiot-pop-savants Frank & The Can I Speaklys have just 'unleashed' their debut three song EP, 'Indie Scum'. It is a riproaring bad time converging on a nexus of new wave, garage punk and brain dribbling lo-fi pop chunder.

The 3-song EP includes the ANTHEM 'Indie Scum', the curious dark pop blast 'You Shout Minus Blood' and the fairly bizarre psych-garage hymn 'Three Legs'.

Lineup:

Frank - vocals
DDT - guitar & synth
Trevor - bass
Dr. Rhythm - drums

Cop it from www.doddrell.com/mp3 in the Frank & The Can I Speaklys folder.

Self-Titled First Album now up for download...

Greetings

The first (self-titled) Whalehammer album can now be downloaded from www.doddrell.com/mp3. Just go there, go to the whalehammer folder, and you can download the zip file. Then you'll need something like Winzip (you can get it for free off the internet, your computer probably already has it) to 'unzip' it into the individual tracks. There is also 'The Birthing Hour' LP and a live set from 29th August in the folder.

The first album was recorded in early 2007 before we had Steve on board, so it's the bass-less lineup of Scott on drums, Richard on guitar and David on guitar and vox. It was recorded in Scott's spare room live to minidisc.

There are 4 songs, 'Riding the Waves', 'Arise Wounded Beast', 'Frozen Psychosis' and 'Amniotic Bouquet'. The first two songs are super-drowsy, languid damaged psych song things, and the last two are rather freeform pretty guitar things with some diversions into icy noise. I'm into this album, although it is probably the last WHLHMR record to listen to while operating heavy equipment or doing something important, like open heart surgery.

Anyhoo, check it out. On the future tip, we just recorded a new album called 'Subterranean', should be out and about in the digital and reality-based sphere soon. Send us an email (whalehammer@gmail.com) or hit us up on the myspace (www.myspace.com/whalehammer) to cop this or any other title.

See ya

Whalehammer Duo LP - 'Static Reverence'

So a new Whalehammer album has been unleashed upon the masses, 'Static Reverence' is the title. This time though it is a bit different as this is a 'Whalehammer Duo' album, ala Crosby and Stills recording an album devoid of the magic of Young and Nash. This recording still has plenty of magic in it's digital soul though. Richard and David recorded it on the evening of 28th September 2007 live to SM57. It will be up on www.doddrell.com/mp3 soonish to download. In the meantime two of the songs, 'Narcoplex' and 'Electronic Prism Face' are up on www.myspace.com/whalehammer to listen to or download. The sound on this album is a bit more blissed-out and electronic than previous Whalehammer stuff, it's pretty cool IMO.

Static Reverence Tracklist
--------------------------

1. Narcoplex
2. Vision Gate
3. Buried at Birth
4. Electronic Prism Face

As usual if you would like a CD-R of this title shoot us an email at ratcolumns@gmail.com or download it as a whole album zip file (soon) on www.doddrell.com/mp3. In other news, Whalehammer have some gigs coming up - Saturday October 27th at Tanya's Party in North Perth, Wednesday October 31st at the Hyde Park Hotel w/ Carbuncle & Astral Travel, Saturday November 3rd at Deni's Birthday Party in West Perth.
